Few Sydney suburbs go back as far as this one. Land here was carved up for housing from the 1840s, decades before the plumbing trade as we know it existed.

That head start shows in what's under the ground today. Detached and semi-detached houses in solid brick still cover most of the elevated streets.

Summer is when this shows up most, as intense storms push more water through the system than the older infrastructure along these flats was ever designed to carry. We treat every stormwater call from this part of the suburb as a land issue first, a pipe issue second.
